Print Winner :: Underwater, A Poem
We have a Winner!! In response to my call to entry, I had many lovely stories and creativity shared with me. I asked my Instagram & Facebook followers to share their inspired story about the ocean, or a poem. I chose this poem below for it's purity, the raw emotions and feelings that I think resonate with the print above, which is the prize. :) Beautifully written by :: Annie McKay from Ottawa Canada.
:: UNDERWATER ::
Coming up from below I gasp for air
it is a relief but
I think
most of us wish we could stay underwater
where our hair fans out softly
and dances with the current
more freely than it does in the wind.
And I can dance freely too
without anything limiting my steps
as I am suspended here
in the ocean
which I know can carry me away
and which I know demands respect but right now
is gentle.
The salt water supports me
not limiting my movement
it invites me to stay
suspended
softly surrounded
by ribbons of seaweed
and threads of light.
The ocean comforts me
envelops every inch of me
embraces me
and opens me to
the constant pulse of the deep
before I break through the surface
gasping for air.
